Kevin Lopez began his role at EGR in 2012 after a friend recommended him for the job. As Beam Saw Operator, Kevin runs the 530 saw that can cut up to 7 sheets at a time. Not only is the machine itself impressive, but Kevin is also a powerhouse. He recently broke a shop record of cutting out 500 sheets on the saw in just one day.
Describe your day to day role as Beam Saw Operator:
My days are pretty routine. Each day I arrive at 5 am, turn on my computer, and check the work I have for the day. I do my best to finish each project on time, so we don’t fall behind schedule. During breaks I enjoy talking with my colleagues and hearing about the work their doing and life in general.
What has been your favorite project to date and why?
The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center because I had a lot of work to do and I was excited to start and finish the project. I also broke a record and felt very proud.
